BANFF – Cartt.ca will be in Banff, Alberta this weekend covering the Banff World TV Festival and its sister show: NextMedia.
Some highlights include Kevin Murphy and Jeff Greenstein from Desperate Housewives will be at the upcoming Banff World Television Festival to run the Craft series on June 11. It’s a workshop-style, hour-long session bringing writers, directors and producers together to break down the creative process of making great television.
Another highlight of the festival, running June 8 to 11, is an international panel of broadcast and digital media executives discussing how they have lead their organizations in the digital media space. Malcolm Wall of Virgin Media Television; Joseph Ferreira, general manager and senior vice-president of CBS Audience Network at CBS; and Jon Vlassopulos, senior vice-president of Digital Media and Branded Entertainment at Endemol US, are among the executives participating in the Digital Heavy Hitters session on June 9 at 10:30 a.m.
Other sessions of interest are Global Distribution – The Fine Art of Negotiation on June 9 at 2:30 p.m., A Critical Evaluation of ‘Why Democracy?’ on June 9 at 4 p.m. and Casting for Reality TV on June 10 at 10:30 p.m.
Panelists on the Global Distribution panel discussing how to negotiate the best distribution deal include Steve Macallister, managing director of Global TV Sales at BBC Worldwide, and Justine O’Neill, director of acquisitions at GRB Entertainment.
The Why Democracy session looks at the largest factual broadcast event ever attempted (ten documentaries from award-winning filmmakers were presented to the world by 48 different broadcasters in more than 180 countries).
The Casting for Reality TV panel looks at such topics as the intricacies that make finding the right host and participants in a reality TV show such a challenge.
The CFTPA hosts its annual luncheon on June 11 at 11:30 a.m., with keynote speaker Bill Hudson, business and market development of Professional Video Applications at Apple Inc.
