BANFF – Corus Entertainment’s W Network announced two new original series and the fifth season of the hit series Property Brothers, Monday from the Banff World Media Festival.
The new event-based series include 10×60 minutes of Pressure Cooker, set to premier this fall, and 8×60 minutes of Game of Homes which will air in the winter of 2015.
Pressure Cooker is a large-scale, studio-based reality competition series where home cooks are faced with the eternal dilemma – what do you cook when you have only a few random ingredients in your kitchen? In each episode, celebrity chefs are paired with home cooks in a culinary cook off combining great cooking with mischievous game show mechanics. But there’s a twist, home cooks must select their ingredients from a specially designed conveyor belt that kicks in at timed intervals. Whatever ingredients they take, they must use. Judging the food is the ‘Tasting Expert’ who crowns a winner at the end of each episode. The series is produced by Bristow Global Media in association with W Network.
Game of Homes is a reno competition event series with an exciting twist. Four teams of talented amateurs go head-to-head renovating four homes in Vancouver – all on public display. Each week they will rip apart, rebuild and redesign one room under tight budgets and impossible deadlines resulting in stunning transformations. In a life-changing finale, the team with the most impressive renovation will win their mortgage-free house. The series is produced by Great Pacific Television, in association with W Network.
Property Brothers, hosted by Drew and Jonathan Scott (pictured), is a real estate/home renovation series that gets buyers into their dream homes without busting their budget. The series follows real estate agent Drew and contractor Jonathan as they help couples find, buy and transform extreme fixer-uppers into the ultimate dream home.
“We are excited to go into production on two big concept series that feature thrilling competition and big stakes,” said John MacDonald, VP television, head of Corus women and family, in the news release. “Our new series will be part of our aggressive programming plan and give our audience even more reasons to spend time with W, the number one Women's specialty network.”
