TORONTO – Television service provider VMedia Inc. is encouraging subscribers to build their own programming packages and personalize their TV channel line-up with a new option called UChoose.
The Toronto-based company, which is in over 3500 homes, offers television service in Ontario only and Internet in Ontario and Quebec. Its UChoose Store offers 60 channels on a standalone basis, and more than 40 channels as part of a ‘pick a pack’ option. As standalone, most channels cost $2.25 each per month each, but those available in customized theme packs are priced at $1.50 per channel per month.
VMedia Director George Burger said that the company offers “virtually all” of the channels that its affiliation agreements permit in the UChoose Store, an amount that is over half of its specialty channel lineup.
"Canadians are entitled to pay only for those channels they want to watch," Burger said in the news release. "Combined with the exceptional value of our Premium Basic and Basic packages, the UChoose Store is a great solution for subscribers who want to customize their entertainment options, and save money at the same time."
VMedia added that its interface allows subscribers to easily select and switch UChoose channels online at any time through their ‘My Account' portal, resulting in the channel’s immediate appearance on their TV screen.
