TORONTO – Independent TV, Internet and home phone provider VMedia brought its full suite of services to New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Prince Edward Island Wednesday, completing its launch across all 10 provinces.
VMedia offers unlimited internet, both Cable and DSL, with packages ranging from FTTN 7 for $24.95 to Cable 940 for $99.95 in Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and PEI, and up to Cable 250 at $79.95 in New Brunswick.
Internet subscribers also receive six months of free television service on VMedia’s Skinny TV package. The company delivers its content through its proprietary VBox, an Android-based set top box and media player combined, that provides a traditional TV subscription service, with TV features like VCloud "scroll back" TV, VoD and PVR, as well as easy access to hundreds of apps including Netflix and YouTube. Subscribers can also watch VMedia TV with a Roku device or a Roku-powered TV.
“In the TV space, VMedia is the only terrestrial broadcast distribution undertaking (BDU) with national broadcast coverage and local TV channels across the country,” said co-founder George Burger, in the news release. "VMedia has also been the champion of fair competition in a marketplace dominated by major entities, which own 90% of that market. We continue to focus our efforts on being able to offer the consumer the most competitive prices and innovative features.”
Since its initial launch in Ontario in 2013, VMedia says that its every-day prices can save consumers up to 40% on their monthly bill when compared to the incumbents’ pricing.
