TORONTO – VMedia entered the home security business Monday with the launch of its new wireless home security system called VMedia Protect.
The independent telecom and TV service provider said that the system offers professional home monitoring 24/7, and Internet-based. In the event of an intrusion, an emergency alert is sent to its central monitoring station where operators notify the homeowner or dispatch local law enforcement or security professionals to the residence.
VMedia Protect also comes with a mobile app that allows subscribers to as well as arm or disarm their system remotely, and receive event notifications directly to their smartphone.
Priced at $12.95 per month, the modular system allows the consumer to assemble the package most suitable to their preferences. Subscribers have the option to buy additional equipment (door and window sensors, key fobs and accessories such as a PIN pad) to tailor the system to their needs and space, and VMedia is offering six months free for customers who purchase the equipment kit.
“We are delighted to add Home Security to our lineup of high-speed Internet, TV and Home Phone services and offer a much better value solution for consumers,” said CEO Alexei Tchernobrivets, in the news release. “The addition of home security also reinforces VMedia’s position as a leading, independent provider as we are the only ISP to offer all four residential services and a real alternative to the major players.”
