MONTREAL –TV, Internet and home phone provider VMedia, announced this week the launch of its TV service to Quebec City, Gatineau, Sherbrooke, Trois Rivières, Shawinigan, Saguenay, Chicoutimi, Rimouski and their surrounding areas.
Along with the company’s broadband and home phone packages, VMedia says it is the only triple play alternative to the major incumbent players in those markets (such as Bell, Cogeco and Vidéotron). “Already a successful competitor with a growing customer base in Montreal, as well as Ontario and the Western provinces, VMedia will now offer better prices and more choice and flexibility in TV, internet and phone services to nearly 500,000 more homes in Quebec,” says the press release.
“After our successful launch in Montreal last year, we have been getting many requests for our service from the rest of Quebec,” said Andre Charette, general manager, VMedia Quebec, in the release. “We are very happy to be able to respond to that demand, and expand our ability to provide a much-needed alternative for consumers to the big companies in triple-play TV, internet and phone services.”
Four-year-old VMedia, which delivers its services thanks to wholesale agreements with the incumbent carriers, has been offering choice in TV, internet and home phone services at prices up to 30% less than those of the big players, it says.
"VMedia’s innovative approach to pricing and packaging live TV channels, with access to a world of internet content with one device, one remote and one easy interface, is in sync with how consumers want to experience video content today” added Charette, in the release " For example, we offer our "skinny" basic package for $17.95… well below the prices charged by the big companies, as well as other great TV packages like Le Complet, a French package featuring every single French specialty channel, for only $49.95.”
VMedia delivers its content through its proprietary VBox, an Android-based set top box and media player combined, that provides a traditional TV subscription service, with TV features like VCloud "look back" TV, VOD and PVR, as well as internet content on TV screens with easy access to hundreds of apps including Netflix, YouTube, movies, music, games, social media, multicultural channels, and more.
