TORONTO – VisionTV’s faith programming is seeing a resurgence in viewership, says the company.
For the season to date, the channel’s “Mosaic” programs collectively have recorded a 30-minute audience reach of nearly 1.6 million viewers, a new high that surpasses last year’s levels by more than 25%.
In addition, there are 58 Mosaic broadcasts – more than half of the number on the schedule – that have achieved a five-minute reach for the season to date of over 200,000 viewers – which is twice the number that achieved the same result last season.
The audience data is from Nielsen Media Research.
VisionTV airs a range of programs produced and presented by Christian, Muslim, Sikh and Hindu faith groups across North America. This Mosaic programming makes up approximately half of the multi-faith broadcaster’s weekly schedule.
"This growth in viewership is a testament to the talents and professionalism of our Mosaic partners, and a strong indication that Canadians are becoming more and more interested in television programming devoted to faith and spirituality,” said Mark Prasuhn, COO of VisionTV, in a release.
"As a multi-faith broadcaster, VisionTV maintains an environment of respect and appreciation for all beliefs. This makes it an increasingly attractive destination both for the producers of spiritual programming and for viewers, as we all struggle to understand how different faith communities can coexist peacefully in an ever more diverse society."
In addition to its Mosaic offerings, VisionTV presents an array of movies, dramas, lifestyle series, documentaries and current affairs programs that explore faith, spirituality, and the related issues of morality and ethics.
