Virgin Plus launches unlimited nationwide 5G data plans starting at $55 per month

TORONTO – Bell flanker brand Virgin Plus last week unveiled a new brand campaign featuring a new look and competitively priced unlimited nationwide 5G data plans starting at $55 per month for 30GB (full-speed data) on a two-year term.

Virgin Plus is also offering a 60GB unlimited nationwide 5G data plan for $65 per month for the first two years.

“With prices increasing on almost everything, we’re all looking for affordable options, especially when it comes to the things we can’t live without like our phones and internet. Virgin Plus understood the assignment and is delivering (obviously) — we’re introducing more affordable service offerings that fit everyone’s needs and budget,” Claire Gillies, head of marketing at Virgin Plus, said in a press release.

“With new unlimited nationwide rate plans and new 5G network access, on a leading network that is both larger and faster than Freedom Mobile and Fido, we’re demonstrating exactly why we are the obvious choice.”

For its ad campaign, Virgin Plus has recruited celebrity spokespeople such as American actor Andre Braugher (Brooklyn Nine-NineHomicide: Life on the Street), Quebec actor and comedian Antoine Vézina (LOL:-)Contre-offre) and social media influencer Patrick Chen (known online as “Tarzan”).

With a view to capturing some of the Canadian newcomer market, Virgin Plus’s campaign features English, French, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Hinglish ad spots.

Last week, Freedom Mobile also got a jump on the back-to-school season with the launch of a 5G unlimited data plan with 50GB of full-speed data, covering Canada, the United States and Mexico, for $65 per month. Freedom is also now offering a $45-per-month 5G plan with 30GB of full-speed data plus unlimited talk and text, covering Canada only.
