Virgin Mobile offers programs, tips to help customers “show the recession who is boss”

TORONTO – Virgin Mobile Canada is offering money back to customers in order to help them through the recession and achieve “chic-onomic” status.

The quirky, self-described “#1 mobile youth network” will credit up to $150 back to a customer’s account once they have signed up for the company’s ‘Auto-Pay’ feature available on pre-paid monthly plans that are paid using a credit card.

Virgin Mobile said that they will then “automatically” credit a customer’s account $5 every month for up to 30 months through its new ‘PayCheck’ program. PayCheck was designed to help offset the cost of a new phone, while leaving customers with extra spending money on their account, the company’s announcement explained.

Back in February, Virgin Mobile has also launched screwyourecession.ca – a new website to provide tips on controlling costs and saving money.

"Young people have told us that they’re feeling left out and are fed up with hearing about big corporate bailouts and bonuses for corporate executives," said Andrew Black, president and CEO of Virgin Mobile Canada, in the announcement. "They’re looking for someone to give them honest advice and even a little bailout of their own. With the recent launch of screwyourecession.ca and PayCheck, that’s exactly what we’re doing."
