Videotron, TVA Sports partner with new ECHL team

TROIS-RIVIÈRES, QC – Quebecor’s Videotron and TVA Sports announced today they have partnered with new East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) team the Trois-Rivières Lions.

“Under the agreement, the new Trois-Rivières arena will be named the “Colisée Vidéotron” and TVA Sports will become the exclusive official broadcaster of the Trois-Rivières Lions’ home games. 2021-2022 will be the team’s maiden season,” a press release says.

“This partnership is in keeping with our commitment to Québec’s sports and entertainment industry,” said Pierre Karl Péladeau, president and CEO of Quebecor, in the press release.

“In addition to supporting and promoting the next generation of Québec athletes, we want to contribute to the economic development of Québec’s regions through local investments that benefit the entire community.”

The Colisée Vidéotron officially opens Sunday Sept. 12 and will be used for concerts and community events in addition to being the home of the Lions.

Over 25 Trois-Rivières Lions games will be broadcast on TVA Sports this season, not including playoff games, the release says. The first broadcast will feature the team’s home opener against the Newfoundland Growlers at 7 p.m. on Oct. 21.
