MONTREAL – Videotron said Friday that its unionized employees in eastern Quebec and Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean have approved in principle agreements that would renew their collective agreements through December 31, 2020.

The agreements, which cover 785 unionized employees, were reached with the executive of Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 1417 on December 21, 2018.

"We are very satisfied with the outcome of the vote by our employees in eastern Québec and Saguenay–Lac St-Jean," said Videotron’s human resources VP Alain Charlebois, in the news release.  "In a highly competitive market and a time of transformation for our organization, renewal of these labour contracts will enable Videotron to preserve the operational flexibility it needs in order to drive innovation and execute on the major projects now in progress. These agreements also recognize the vital work of Videotron's unionized employees, who deliver outstanding product quality and customer service day after day."
