Videotron launches Vrai streaming platform

MONTREAL — Quebecor’s Videotron yesterday officially launched its new Vrai streaming platform, which company CEO Pierre Karl Péladeau said in an Instagram post is the first Quebec subscription platform to exclusively offer specialized, unscripted lifestyle, documentary and entertainment content entirely in French.

Videotron first announced the Vrai platform in May 2021, saying at the time the subscription service would go live later this year “with thousands of hours of all-French, on-demand content, including more than 40 first-run exclusive original Quebec productions,” according to a press release issued then. The company further committed to carrying 100 original Quebec productions on Vrai by the end of 2022.

In his Instagram post yesterday, Péladeau reiterated those content commitments, saying 40 original productions will be offered by the end of this year and more than 100 by 2022.

The “thousands of hours of content” will include several original shows produced in collaboration with Quebecor Content, Péladeau says.

For a limited time, Videotron is offering its Helix customers a free three-month trial of Vrai.

“In the coming weeks, the subscription platform will be available to everyone, Videotron customers or not,” says Péladeau, in an English translation of his post.

Vrai has an official Facebook account here and a Twitter account here.
