Videotron drops free calls to Chile

MONTREAL – After funding more than 7,800 long-distance residential calls to Chile in the aftermath of last month’s earthquake, Videotron has announced that it will pull the offer at the end of March.“We wanted to support Québec families affected by the February 27 earthquake by letting our customers communicate with loved ones in Chile free of charge,” said president and CEO Robert Dépatie, in an announcement. “We hope that our effort to keep the lines to the country open, in the wake of the earthquake that devastated Chile just a few weeks after Haiti, helped keep people connected despite the catastrophe.”The...
