MONTREAL – Videotron’s HD customers will get to see more than the New Orleans Saints take on the Indianapolis Colts at this year’s Super Bowl: they’ll get to watch the U.S. commercials, too.
As Canadian rights holder CTV does not offer an HD signal over-the-air in Quebec, Videotron is exempt from the simultaneous substitution rules. It announced Monday that it will carry the CBS HD feed of the game uncut, including the U.S. ads. CBS’s standard digital and analog signal will be replaced by the CTV signal.
“In addition to seeing the new U.S. commercials, illico Digital TV subscribers will be able to watch the annual sports extravaganza with unparalleled picture and sound,” said Myrianne Collin, VP of marketing, consumer sector, in a statement. “And this year, football fans will be treated to more pre-game shows than ever before.”
Super Bowl XLIV will be played February 7, 2010 at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami, Florida.
