Videotron confirms Super Channel launch

MONTREAL – Videotron is officially launching pay TV service Super Channel on Wednesday.

After Cartt.ca leaked the news from the CCSA conference earlier this week, Videotron confirmed that the channel will be joining its illico TV channel line-up, with content also offered on illico.tv, illico.tv for tablets (Android and iPad) and illico mobile.

Customers in Gatineau and the greater Montréal area will be able to sample Super Channel in HD from September 25 to October 9.  Super Channel will be available for $15.00 per month on illico TV channels 205, 206, 207 and 208 in standard format, channels 805, 806, 807 and 808 in HD, and channel 900 for on-demand content.

In other news, Videotron said that its illico.tv app for tablets has passed the 200,000-downloads mark on the iPad alone, less than 10 months after its launch.
“The success of illico.tv for tablets is the result of our ability to innovate in order to meet our customers’ growing needs and make their lives simpler,” said Isabelle Dessureault, VP, content operations and public affairs, in the press release.  “With this great new app, designed by Québec developers for Québec consumers, customers are in full control. They have access to a wealth of entertainment at their fingertips, on the screen of their choice.”
