Videotron cancels long-distance charges for calls to Haiti and Afghanistan

MONTREAL — Videotron announced today it is suspending long-distance charges for calls made from Canada to Haiti and Afghanistan due to the ongoing crises in each country, effective immediately until September 15. The move is “to allow customers to reach family and loved ones in those countries without having to worry about tolls,” reads a Videotron press release. According to the release, long-distance charges will be automatically cancelled for all residential, business and mobile Videotron accounts. “Customers do not need to contact Videotron before placing a call to Haiti or Afghanistan,” the release says.
