TORONTO – Former National Post reporter Natalie Alcoba has been named as managing editor of Vice News Canada, the latest Vice territory to establish a dedicated news team following launch of Vice News in the U.S, the U.K, France and Spain.

Alcoba will report for Vice News and oversee the editorial content, managing a team of staff and freelance writers across Canada.

In addition, Allya Davidson was named producer of Vice News Canada.  Previously an associate producer at CBC’s The Fifth Estate and film production company Clover Films, she will work closely with the Canadian production and editorial teams to produce original and compelling video content.

In other Vice News announcements, investigative journalist Justin Ling will expand his role as Vice News’ dedicated Canadian parliamentary correspondent, Ben Makuch will continue to work as a video host and associate editor, and Rachel Browne and Hilary Beaumont were named as staff reporters.

All Vice News content will live on https://news.vice.com and video content will be uploaded to the dedicated Vice News YouTube channel.  A series of ads designed to showcase the diversity of Vice News content has begun running on various Rogers-owned specialty television channels and radio stations.

"Our dedicated Canadian news team brings tenacity and experience to their respective roles,” said Alcoba, in the news release.  "I can’t wait to see how we plug into Vice’s global network of contributors by expanding our editorial and video coverage, and investigating stories that don’t get enough attention in Canada."
