Vecima Networks hits shipment milestones


VICTORIA – Victoria-based equipment manufacturer Vecima Networks has hit two milestones, selling and shipping its 100,000th QAM Modular Channels and its 200,000th CMTS Upconverter modules.

Vecima, a leading provider of products that enable broadband access to cable, wireless, and telephony networks, reached the milestones by its June 30 fiscal year end.

“These milestones clearly show how significant a proportion of the world’s internet and digital video traffic is transmitted over cable networks by Vecima modules,” said Sumit Kumar, Vice President of Corporate Strategy. “Vecima’s best in class RF expertise, innovative technological portfolio, and experienced pedigree of high volume, quality manufacturing is evidenced in the tremendous volume of products we have shipped both under OEM relationships with top tier networking vendors and through Vecima branded sales directly to the world’s largest cable MSOs.”

Vecima finished its fiscal year with 790 employees and over 270,000 sq ft of facilities space, helped in part by its previous acquisition of WaveRider Communications (Canada) Inc. and its recent acquisition of Spectrum Signal Processing Inc. Vecima now has facilities in Saskatoon, Victoria, Burnaby, Calgary, Toronto, San Jose, Washington, D.C., Sydney, Australia, and Mangalore, India.
