MONTREAL – Saying that after 27 years at one company it’s time for a break, Claude Sauvé, vice-president, television distribution content, VOD, Internet and wireless at Videotron, has split with the company that hired him as a teenager.
Sauvé has been with the MSO for over 25 years as it grew and changed hands, starting his Videotron career at age 17 in 1979. He has held numerous programming and marketing positions.
"It’s really a (mutual) decision. I know people always say that but in my case, it’s true," he told Cartt.ca on Wednesday. "I have a lot of respect for Videotron and Quebecor.
"I was ready to do something different and I think they were ready, too," he added, with his usual candor.
Sauvé said he’s looking forward to some time off, but wants to come back to the industry after a break. "For the first time in my life I have the time to rest a little bit and decide what I want to do," he said.
"I’m ready for a new challenge… I really have no plans at this time and don’t want any for a few months."
