HALIFAX – Former EastLink co-CEO Dan McKeen has left the company, Cartt.ca has learned.
In an e-mail to Cartt.ca, McKeen confirmed his last day at Canada’s fifth-largest cable company in the country was Tuesday, October 27.
He plans to take a few months off before looking at other opportunities. “I have fully enjoyed my time at EastLink. I describe it as the opportunity of a lifetime,” he wrote.
Until this year, McKeen had been co-CEO of the company, along with Lee Bragg, but recent personnel shuffles at the top of the company saw a number of folks change jobs or depart. McKeen’s role was altered, too, as his title was shifted to deputy chair, external relations as Bragg was named sole CEO and Debra Shaffner, president, among other personnel moves.
McKeen began his career in the cable industry working as a marketing co-ordinator with Halifax Cablevision and had been co-CEO of the cableco for almost a decade.
“I am deeply grateful to John Bragg and know that EastLink is well positioned for future growth and success,” added McKeen in his e-mail to Cartt.ca.
McKeen also sent out an e-mail to industry associates stressing the decision to leave was his and “a personal decision.”
“In July 1985, I started with Halifax Cable as their first marketing coordinator, this was my first job after graduating university. Stu Rath and John Bragg had purchased controlling interest in Halifax Cable and they decided that more marketing was needed. This was a very good day for me,” McKeen wrote.
“In the years that followed, I have been very privileged to work with a great group of people. The industry has grown significantly and our suppliers and cable colleagues have been a big part of our growth. I am proud of what we have been able to accomplish together.”
“I want you to know that I feel very fortunate to have been able to be part of this industry for almost 25 years. There does however come a time when change is needed and I am looking forward to the next stage of my career, wondering how it could possibly compare to EastLink!”
