Two more companies fined for DNCL violations


OTTAWA – The CRTC has nabbed two more companies for violating the national do not call list (DNCL), and has slapped them each with $20,000 in fines.

Between July 21, 2009 and January 19, 2010, the Commission said that it received numerous complaints in relation to fax telemarketing telecommunications made by Roofing by Peerless Mason Ltd.  After issuing a notice of violation and a fine of $20,000 to the company on February 15, 2010 and receiving no reply, the Commission imposed an additional $20,000 administrative monetary penalty on Wednesday.  The fine plus any outstanding amount is due by August 20, 2010.

The CRTC also fined Waterproofing by Peerless Mason Inc. an additional $20,000 after it failed to respond to its initial notice of violation issued February 15, 2010.  The Commission said Wednesday that it received complaints between July 21, 2009 and January 19, 2010 about the company for fax telemarketing telecommunications made to consumers whose telecommunications numbers were registered on the DNCL.  The fine plus any outstanding amount is due by August 20, 2010.
