TVA’s Mels Studios hires new director of visual effects

MONTREAL — TVA Group’s Mels Studios and Postproduction division announced Friday the appointment of Christina Wise (pictured) as director of visual effects, who started her new position today.

Wise was hired away from MPC Film, where she worked as an executive producer at the Montreal offices of the British visual effects and production company.

Wise has more than 20 years of experience in the film and TV industry, but since 2010 has been focusing her career more specifically in the field of visual effects, working for such major players as Cinésite, BUF Canada, Fox, MGM, Disney and New Regency. Some of the productions she has contributed to include 1917, Call of the Wild, Doolittle, Artemis Fowl, Blade Runner: 2049, Agent 47 and Krypton, to name a few.

“We’re delighted to bring Christina on board in such a key position, because she’s recognized for her leadership, energy and ability to deliver a quality product that meets client expectations,” says Denis Rozon, chief operating officer at Mels, in the news release. “This appointment fits in perfectly with our growth strategy in the field of visual effects, and we’re convinced that Christina’s talent and experience will be a major asset for us.”

“What a pleasure to be joining this incredibly dynamic team at Mels,” adds Wise. “I’m so proud to be starting this new chapter in my career with such a visionary and forward-thinking company. I’m expecting to take on a wide range of exciting and complex projects, and I know I have the best people around me to succeed in this challenge.”

Mels Studios and Postproduction’s services include soundstage and equipment rental, visual effects, sound and picture postproduction, mobile unit rental, theatrical distribution, and distribution for television, Internet and smart devices.
