MONTREAL — Quebecor’s TVA network announced Tuesday its fall lineup which includes more than 34 original productions and 11 new shows, as well as several returning hit series.
“Our new schedule is designed to reinforce our leadership in innovative and surprising ways, while staying close to viewers so they can see themselves reflected in our shows. This is all thanks to the great work of Quebecor Content and its production teams. Our 2020-2021 season connects with all family members, with content and personalities that bring people together and resonate with viewers,” said Nathalie Fabien, senior director of stations and programming for TVA Group, in the TVA news release.
TVA is highlighting its Sunday night lineup, which includes the return of La Voix (September 13 at 7 p.m.), with host Charles Lafortune, coaches Marc Dupré, Coeur de Pirate, Garou and Pierre Lapointe, and a new group of contestants embarking on a musical adventure for six episodes, leading up to the grand finale to crown the Voice of Quebec.
Two new series are set to premiere Sunday, October 25. Combining lively discussions about families and a comedy club atmosphere, Charles Lafortune helms Bijoux de famille, where he has fun profiling Quebec families from past and present. Then, Marc Dupré rounds up some of Quebec’s biggest music-industry talents on En studio, as non-professionals are given a chance to record a song as a gift for someone special in their life.
Among the other new shows premiering on TVA this fall, Patrick Huard brings his energy to La tour (Monday to Thursday, 7:30 p.m.), in which the classic talk-show format is reinvented as fictional neighbours drop in to share their opinions on hot topics. In another new series, Marie-Eve Janvier hosts À tour de rôles (Mondays at 9 p.m., starting September 14), as she welcomes famous actors to her impressive set surrounded by a huge wall of screens in order to revisit some of Quebec’s most memorable and beloved TV characters.
Some of the new original scripted series on TVA this fall include: Mon fils (Mondays at 8 p.m.), which immerses viewers in the troubling world of mental illness, starring Antoine L’Écuyer and Élise Guilbault; La faille (Tuesdays at 9 p.m.), which follows Sergeant Detective Céline Trudeau (Isabel Richer) to Quebec’s great white north to investigate a horrible murder; and Rue King (premiering Wednesday, September 16, 9 p.m.), a sitcom set in Sherbrooke in which all the dialogue is ad-libbed by actors (Pier-Luc Funk, Sophie Cadieux, Marie-Ève Morency) receiving on-the-spot direction from Stéphane Bellavance through an earpiece.
