TVA income grows by $1M, Canoe joins Sun group

MONTREAL - Quebecor’s television division, TVA Group, reported a net income of $6.5 million the first quarter of 2009, compared with a net income of $5.5 million for the corresponding quarter of 2008. Growth in the television sector's operating income of $937,000, or 10.2%, compared with the same year-ago quarter, was explained by a 4.2% growth in operating income for its specialty services and a 4.2% growth in advertising revenues for all properties, of which 90% was from the broadcast of its popular Star Academie show.
