TVA accelerates MELS’ executive transition

MONTREAL — Michel Trudel is stepping aside as president of TVA Group’s MELS Studios effective today and becoming a strategic consultant to the film studio and postproduction company.

Trudel will serve in that role until December 31, 2021, TVA Group president and CEO France Lauzière said today, while also announcing Martin Carrier is taking over as president of MELS effectively immediately.

In April, Carrier was announced as Trudel’s replacement as president, but the handover wasn’t originally scheduled to take place until December 31, 2020. Lauzière said today she is accelerating implementation of MELS’ business plan.

“I thank Michel Trudel for his important contribution to MELS’ success and to the development of the film and television industries in Quebec,” said Lauzière, in the company’s news release. “I am very pleased that we will have the benefit of his expertise as a strategic consultant.”

Trudel added: “I have agreed to extend my role in developing this major company I have been building for more than 30 years and to lend my support in the leadership transition.”
