TV5’s Laverdiere returns to CBC

MONTREAL – The CBC this week announced the appointment of Suzanne Laverdière as director, cross-cultural fund.

She will report to Yvan Asselin, general manager of integration. Suzanne will also have a dotted line to the executive director, English television network programming, as well as to the executive director and general manager of CBC Radio and Radio de Radio-Canada, respectively, said the Corp’s internal memo.

“These inter-network responsibilities highlight the Corporations strategy of emphasizing cooperation among all of its components,” says the memo.

With a budget of $10 million, Laverdière will be responsible for collaborative, cross-cultural productions, building on the successes of past productions such as Ciao Bella, The Last Chapter / Le Dernier chapitre, and Hockey: A Peoples History / Hockey : La fierté dun peuple, as well as documentaries shared by CBC Radio One and Première Chaîne, and concerts by CBC Radio 2 and Espace musique

“Its great to have Suzanne back at CBC/Radio-Canada. She was formerly general manager, corporate affairs and strategic planning, for French services, and is coming home after two years with TV5Monde in Paris, where she was general manager in charge of programs,” says the memo from Stursberg and EVP French Services Sylvain Lafrance.

“We look forward to seeing the top-notch cross-cultural projects that will result from this collaboration between our networks.”
