TORONTO – While time spent with various media varies by age, time spent watching television continues to lead every demographic, according to new data from thinktv, the Toronto-based marketing and research association.
According to thinktv research, Canadian adults aged 18+ watch over 25 hours of TV per week, with 22.4 hours of that live and 2.8 hours spent watching content recorded with their PVRs. That is 7X more than YouTube (3.6 hours per week), 14x more than Facebook (1.8 hours) and 19x more than Netflix (1.3 hours).
While those figures are slightly different for millennials (defined as Canadians aged 18-34), television is still king. Millennials spend almost 14 hours per week watching television, with 11.9 hours of that live TV and 1.8 hours watching PVRed content. That is double the time spent watching YouTube (6.2 hours per week), 7x more than Facebook (2.0 hours) and 6x more than Netflix (2.3 hours).
