TV call display pops up on Rogers

TORONTO – Rogers Communications launched TV call display Thursday, a product enhancement to its home phone and digital TV service that allows incoming calls to be immediately displayed and managed on a customer’s TV screen.

When a customer’s phone rings, a pop-up banner displaying the details of the call appears at the bottom of the TV screen. Customers can then choose to answer the phone or press ‘exit’ on their Rogers remote to make the banner disappear, or select ‘snooze’ to temporarily turn off the pop-up.

Digital TV customers who subscribe to Rogers’ home phone with call display and voicemail can choose to re-direct calls to voicemail using their remote.  Customers can also manage calls, view a log of recent calls, and customize certain features such as turn on the ‘new voicemail’ notification pop-up.

Launching in Ontario effective immediately, TV call display is being rolled out to all eligible customers in a phased approach over the coming months, the company said in the annoucement. No action or installation is necessary to begin using the new service, which is available at no extra charge.
