TORONTO – TSN opened the doors to its new studio in Toronto Wednesday and proceeded to broadcast seven straight hours of live coverage surrounding the Toronto Maple Leafs’ opening night game.

The Sport Chek Studio in Maple Leaf Square has the ability to send live video feeds to the airwaves within seconds, and includes a nine-foot broadcast desk equipped with studio lighting, microphones, and four cameras; a sports ticker with 11 LED panels totaling 22,528 LEDs; a full colour LED system, and a 48” TV screen.

The in-store studio, now officially open to the public, overlooks Maple Leaf Square from the second floor of Sport Chek’s flagship store in downtown Toronto, adjacent to the Air Canada Centre.

“This is exactly what we envisioned when we started working with Sport Chek on this innovative new partnership,” said Ken Volden, TSN’s VP and executive producer, studio production and news and information, in the news release. “With the Sport Chek Studio we have the capability to broadcast live from the heart of major sports events, bringing together both Sport Chek customers and sports fans in a unique environment.”

"We are consistently evolving the way we interact with our customers and finding new ways to shift from a point of sale to a point of experience," added Frederick Lecoq, SVP of marketing for FGL Sports.  "Our strategic partnership with TSN allows us to give our customers a deeper immersion into a sports environment. There is no other retail store in this country where fans can get this authentic experience and we're excited to be the first to bring this to Canadians."
