TORONTO – Paul McLean, TSN’s executive producer of events, died Wednesday evening. He was 39.
He was diagnosed with cancer about a year ago.
McLean (left) had been with TSN since 1987, and in his position he was responsible for the network’s major mobile productions such as CFL, Curling, International Hockey (including IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships), PGA, LPGA, Skins, Golf, Tennis and Blue Jays Baseball.
He started out at TSN as an editorial assistant and worked his way up the ladder as a story editor, associate producer, producer, and senior producer of TSN’s CFL and Curling coverage.
McLean also worked on TSN’s CFL coverage for the past 11 years and is responsible for creating TSN’s popular CFL Friday Night Football telecasts.
"Paul’s talents and commitment were well known and respected across the industry as his influence and touch reached many beyond the TSN family,” said TSN president Phil King. “We will miss him deeply.”
