CALGARY – While we can’t say for sure if the green and gold fans of the Edmonton Eskimos played a part, Shaw Communications announced today it will add TSN2 in HD and SD to the channel lineups of Shaw Cable and Star Choice on September 19.
"As TSN expands its service, we are excited to bring its new sports offering to our Shaw customers," said Peter Bissonnette, president of Shaw Communications, in a release.
As Cartt.ca had reported, Shaw was one of the big four MSOs/DTH operators which hadn’t added the sports channel right at its launch. But, with the Edmonton Eskimos-Montreal Alouettes CFL game scheduled for TSN2 on Sunday, we bet the Shaw/Star Choice call centres received plenty of queries from fans.
TSN2 will be "in select markets," says the Shaw release on the following cable channels: in Standard Definition on channel 147 and in HD on channel 226 as part of Shaw’s HD Plus package. For Star Choice, TSN2 will be available on channel 401 in Standard Definition and channel 269 in HD
With Bell TV having added the channel last weekend, that leaves just Rogers Communications and Videotron as TSN2 holdouts – and a deal with Rogers is said by insiders to be imminent.
