TORONTO – TSN’s new look website that was unveiled Tuesday features five new applications, a new design, bolder images and easier navigation.
It is the fourth major redesign and the eighth re-launch for TSN.ca, which made its debut in 1995. Today, TSN.ca attracts an average of 4.9 million unique visitors and 90 million page views per month, according to TSN. The number is more than double the monthly traffic of other English Canadian sports broadcasters’ websites, added TSN.
The latest re-launch coincides with the start of the NHL playoffs. The five applications added to the website are interactive Video in Your Call section, live scoreboard, in-game tracker, embedded video player and flash video player.
The Video in Your Call section now includes video commentary in the user generated content section of the website. Videos can be easily uploaded from any video device – webcam, video phone or video camera. Users can also vote for the best video submissions and share video comments on social networking websites. Last month, there were 2.4 million page views on Your Call.
The live scoreboard will feature up-to-the-minute scoring updates, box scores and in-game statistics as games are in progress, and the in-game tracker allows web viewers to follow the game as it unfolds through a graphical representation of the play-by-play. The latter application will debut at the start of the NHL playoffs.
The embedded video player gives users instant access to video direct from the TSN.ca homepage, and the flash video player allows users to access more than 275 hours of video. Users can also search for favourite clips in the flash video player’s library and create their own customized playlists, highlights and features.
“TSN.ca has revolutionized Canada’s online sports landscape and continues its forward-thinking with innovative technological advancements that result in an enriched user experience,” said TSN.ca executive producer Mike Day.
