
TORONTO and MONTREAL — Bell Media’s sports networks TSN and RDS announced today their broadcast schedules for Canada’s favourite holiday hockey tradition, the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship.
The tournament begins Sunday, Dec. 26 and is taking place at Rogers Place in Edmonton and the Peavey Mart Centrium in Red Deer, Alberta.
Both networks will provide complete coverage of all 28 tournament games, including all Team Canada matchups, the quarterfinals, semifinals, and the bronze and gold medal games.
TSN’s coverage starts with five pre-competition matchups, beginning with Team Canada vs. Switzerland on Sunday, Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. ET on TSN2.
RDS will air three preparatory games, including the Canada vs. Switzerland matchup on Dec. 19 on RDS2.
TSN will tee up the tournament with the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship: Preview Show, hosted by James Duthie and TSN hockey insider Bob McKenzie, on Friday, Dec. 24 at 7 p.m. ET on TSN, TSN.ca and the TSN app.
The special will include news and analysis from TSN director of scouting Craig Button and reporter Mark Masters, alongside TSN’s acclaimed broadcast team of Gord Miller and Ray Ferraro, who will deliver the call for all pre-competition games and Group A matchups in Edmonton.
Play-by-play commentator Dennis Beyak and Button will lead TSN’s coverage of Group B games live from Red Deer.
Duthie and McKenzie will helm TSN’s studio coverage for Group A matchups, the medal round and the gold medal game, along with hockey analyst Jeff O’Neill for all Team Canada games.
TSN SportsCentre anchor Laura Diakun and hockey analyst Dave Reid will also host pre-competition games and Group B matchups from Red Deer, and Masters and Ryan Rishaug will be rinkside, reporting on Group A games.
The TSN Radio Network will also deliver live radio coverage of the tournament, led by play-by-play commentator Jason Gregor alongside analyst Jason Strudwick, with Jim Tatti hosting pre-game, intermission and post-game coverage.
Over on RDS, the description and analysis of the games will be delivered by Stéphane Leroux, Michel Y. Lacroix, Norman Flynn and Marc-André Dumont, who has led more than 700 games in the QMJHL with the Val-d’Or Foreurs and the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles.
François-Etienne Corbin, Jasmin Leroux, Bruno Gervais and Dominic Ricard will accompany the junior hockey players before the matches and during the intermissions.
