TSN 1050 Toronto announces The Lunch with Andi Petrillo

TORONTO — Starting today, TSN Radio 1050 Toronto is launching a new noon-hour radio program, The Lunch with Andi Petrillo, while the NHL is in its off-season.

Airing weekdays from noon to 1 p.m. ET, the new show “looks beyond the daily sports news cycle and goes in-depth on topics that inform the many ways sports are evolving,” says Bell Media’s press release. Petrillo will conduct in-depth discussions on significant issues and long-form interviews with fascinating personalities from around the world of sports, says the release.

TSN 1050’s Leafs Lunch will return to the airwaves when the 2020-21 NHL season starts, with Petrillo as host.

“I’m thrilled to bring this special new project to the airwaves at such a pivotal time,” said Petrillo, in the press release. “While Leafs Lunch is on hiatus, I’m looking forward to sharing important stories and discussing sports, society, and the ways they intersect. As we navigate this world we’re in and try to make it better, I’m very excited to utilize my platform to shed light on these compelling topics.”

Some of the topics of the program’s weekly roundtable discussions will include:

  • The impact of Covid-19 on North America’s major sports leagues, and how the NHL and NBA can safely return during a second wave
  • Athletes and mental health
  • Athlete activism and the role of the WNBA and NBA in the social justice movement
  • The issues facing minor hockey and how to improve it

On Tuesdays, the “Trailblazers” segment will focus on the impact of women in sport, with the first guest being legendary hockey goalie Manon Rhéaume. On Fridays, “My Greatest Game” will see Petrillo chat with an athlete to break down the greatest game they ever played in and what made it so special.

TSN 1050 is available on AM 1050 in the Toronto area, online at TSN1050.ca, as well as via the TSN and iHeartRadio apps.
