MONTREAL – Cogeco-controlled broadcaster TQS created a new position this week, vice-president, new media and corporate affairs and hired former TVA executive Serge Bellerose to fill it.
"There is no question that the emergence of new media is providing great new opportunities and challenges for TQS. Our industry faces technological changes that affect the television landscape on a daily basis. We are well aware of the enormity of the task and it is for this reason that we have created this new position within our management team," said René Guimond, president and CEO of Cogeco Radio-Télévision and TQS, said in a release.
"Serge Bellerose has extensive experience in this field and we are convinced that he is the right man for the job."
Bellerose has more than thirty years of experience in media, production, commercial development and matters of broadcast regulations. Over the last eight years, he has held the positions of general manager of LCN, vice-president of specialty channels, regional stations and corporate affairs and, most recently, senior vice-president of specialty channels and commercial development for the TVA Group. He has also produced television shows for Coscient/Motion International.
Bellerose was one of several in management and at the executive level who were caught up in a purge last year at Quebecor Media-owned TVA.
"I am very happy to pursue my career at TQS because I will be part of a strong team. When René Guimond approached me for this new position, I didn’t hesitate a single moment to take on this challenge within a fast-changing industry," said Bellerose in the statement.
His appointment is effective immediately.
