OTTAWA — Independent broadcaster Torres Media Group announced last week Danny Kingsbury (above) has been hired for a new role as executive programming advisor.
With more than 41 years of experience in Canadian radio, Kingsbury is a former vice-president, general manager and director at Rogers Sports and Media, where he most recently worked as national format director for rock radio, according to a press release announcing his appointment.
His experience ranges “from on-air, programming, promotion, digital strategies, regulatory, administration, to sales, (and) operations,” the release says.
“We are excited to have Danny guiding our station programming. His knowledge of radio, our formats and his vast experience will give us industry leading insight,” said Ed Torres, Torres Media Group CEO, in the release.
“I’ve long admired Torres Media and the way they operate,” Kingsbury said. “Their group is fiercely entrepreneurial, creative and community focussed. I look forward to help build on their impressive success of growing audiences and serving clients.”
Torres Media Group operates four FM radio stations — Rebel 101.7, K Country 93.7, 105.5 Hits FM and MAX 103.1 FM — as well as digital properties and SkyWords Traffic Network, the largest Canadian-owned radio programming syndicator, according to the press release.
