Toronto event to focus on online business models for broadcasters


TORONTO – U.S. Internet TV leader Sanjay Desai headlines the “Putting the Network into the Net: New Digital Business Models for Broadcasters” session scheduled for May 22 in Toronto.

Desai is the Vice-President of Product Marketing at Brightcove, a company that has helped shape Internet TV and syndication strategies for global media brands such as CBS, MTV Networks, Discovery Communications and Fox. Other participants are Digital Theory Media Consulting President Kate Hanley and Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP Partner Daniel Bourque.

Topics include Competing in the Online Syndication Economy: Business Strategies for Broadcasters, Creating an Online Affiliate Network: The Glam Media Story,Writers Guild of America Contract: Implications for Canada, and Content Clearances in a Fragmented Marketplace.

The event is part of the Future of Media Executive Learning Series presented by Digital Theory Media Consulting in partnership with Canadian Women in Communications, Playback Magazine and Cassels Brock & Blackwell.

The three-hour program begins at 5:30 p.m. after a half-hour networking session at the Cassels Brock & Blackwell offices in Toronto. The cost is $125.
