toober launches 13 new channels

TORONTO – toober, a Toronto-based live television app*, announced today it has launched 13 new channels, all of which are available immediately to all subscribers.

The channels, launched in May, include: Afriwood Blockbuster, Agrotendencia (Costa Rica), Azteca Clic (Mexico) Azteca Cinema (Mexico), Dancehall Channel (Jamaica), INTI (Ecuador), Kiddiwinks (South Africa), M&E TV (Trinidad), MTM (Mercy and Truth Ministries TV, Jamaica), Sports Connect (South Africa), True African TV (South Africa), TTT (Trinidad) and UCL (Paraguay, Un Canal Latinamericano).

“toober aims to fill a gap in the live streaming market by providing subscribers access to all of their favourite channels from around the world at one low price,” a press release explains. “Until toober, viewers were forced to pay a premium for many of their favourite channels, which were only available in additional, upcharged packages. To deliver on that promise, toober is continuously adding the world’s most engaging and popular channels to the platform.”

In Canada, the app is available on Rogers, Shaw, Videotron, Apple TV, and Google TV Playstore. It will be launched globally and on additional platforms later this year, according to the release.

*A previous version of this article referred to toober as being owned by Ethnic Channels Group. However, toober is an independent organization that does not have a relationship with ECG beyond being a channel partner and sharing some shareholders.
