Time and Toronto-based ArtsHouse Media Group last week announced a partnership to launch Time Canada, a licensed Canadian edition of Time’s publication.
Expected to launch this fall across digital, print, live events, video and social platforms, Time Canada will feature original reporting from a dedicated Canadian editorial team, complemented by select content from Time’s global newsroom, according to a June 11 press release.
“For more than a century, TIME has spotlighted the leaders and ideas shaping our world. TIME Canada is the next expression of that commitment, bringing our journalism, iconic franchises, and global platform to one of the most exciting markets today,” Time CEO Jessica Sibley said in the press release. “We are grateful to ArtsHouse Media Group for their partnership in making this a reality.”
Time Canada’s coverage will span business, leadership, politics, culture, innovation, technology, climate and more, “while highlighting the people and issues shaping Canada’s role in an increasingly interconnected world,” Time’s press release said.
“Canada is home to remarkable leaders, creators, innovators and institutions whose influence extends well beyond our borders,” Mo Ghoneim, president and founder of ArtsHouse Media Group, said in a statement. “TIME Canada will provide a platform to celebrate those contributions while creating new opportunities for dialogue, recognition and storytelling. We are proud to partner with TIME to extend its legacy in Canada, connecting Canadian stories and perspectives to audiences around the world.”
As part of its launch, Time Canada will introduce a series of editorial franchises and live events such as leadership forums and cultural experiences “designed to convene influential voices from across industries,” the press release said.
This isn’t the first Time-branded magazine to be published in Canada. A Canadian edition of the publication was launched by Time in 1942, offering primarily U.S. and international content with limited original Canadian editorial, until it was discontinued in 2008.
Time Canada’s launch comes during a period of continued international expansion for Time, which recently launched Time France and Time Africa.
