TORONTO — Marketing and research association thinktv announced today its vice-president of media insights, Kathy Gardner (above), is retiring effective Feb. 4 after a 38-year career in the media industry.
“It has been a privilege to work alongside Kathy, and on behalf of the board, I would like to express our heartfelt appreciation for her numerous contributions,” said Alan Dark, chairperson of thinktv’s board of directors, in a press release announcing Gardner’s retirement.
Gardner “has been instrumental in thinktv’s success over the last six years. Kathy’s unique expertise and her compassionate leadership have benefited us all immensely,” reads the press release, which also notes Gardner’s “unwavering commitment to assisting agencies, advertisers, and broadcasters.”
Previously, Gardner worked at Shaw Media as vice-president of strategic insight–research, “where she was responsible for developing research insights that supported and drove advertiser investment in the company’s slate of broadcast and digital assets,” the release says.
Gardner began her career in the world of media agencies, working at McKim Advertising, J Walter Thompson and Bates Canada.
“She has also been an integral part of Numeris throughout the years: Kathy led the Metered Measurement committee that led to the selection of PPM, and served as the first female Board Chair at Numeris/BBM,” the release says.
thinktv says it will form a selection committee to choose Gardner’s replacement and will consult with stakeholders in the coming weeks to ensure a smooth transition.
