ThinkTel adds collaboration tools to hosted PBX offering

TORONTO — Distributel’s business services division, ThinkTel, is adding a series of collaboration tools to its hosted PBX (private branch exchange) solution offering, to support companies that have shifted their employees to working remotely due to the Covid-19 outbreak in Canada.

ThinkTel is launching its new hosted PBX unified communications offering, MaX UC, in partnership with Metaswitch, a U.K.-based cloud-native communications software company. The new productivity tools, including meetings, presence and instant messaging, can now be layered onto ThinkTel’s hosted PBX solution, explains the news release.

The integrated unified communications (UC) platform provides single-number convenience, so calls and meetings can be transferred to an employee’s preferred device wherever they are, while maintaining the same persona. The solution also features video collaboration, document sharing, chat, visual voicemail and call management functions. The UC applications are available in-call with one touch via the dialler, says the release.

“There really isn’t a better time than right now for a uniquely positioned provider like ThinkTel to be evolving our product offering to support the world of remote and mobile work,” said Jim Dawson, vice-president of enterprise sales for ThinkTel, in the news release. “We’re facilitating workers with the right tools and the best service to be able to work from home.”
