The Score updates its mobile service

TORONTO – Score Media (owners of sports channel The Score) announced the launch of ScoreMobile 2.0 today.

As the two-dot-oh would suggest, this is the next stage of the company’s mobile app and is currently available across Canada on Telus, with other carriers coming “in the near future,” says the press release.

"With nearly 20,000 registrants to date, ScoreMobile 1.0 has been the most successful mobile application of its kind in Canada," said Benjamin Levy, senior vice-president, Score Media Ventures, in a press release. "Now with ScoreMobile 2.0, we are going to give those hardcore sports fans more of what they love and allow them to customize the application to their personal preferences."

ScoreMobile 2.0 continues to deliver the up-to-the-minute scores and odds of its predecessor with the addition of real-time box scores, in-depth stats and standings for major professional and college leagues.

The downloadable java application will also include several signature features, including MyScoreboard – a customizable scoreboard where users can track their favourite teams from numerous leagues in a single view; Player Tracker – a customizable fantasy team and player tracker function where users can track their fantasy players’ stats in real-time; and Head-to-Head Stats – a tool where users can quickly compare key team statistics.

Also, a Peer-to-Peer sharing feature has been added, which allows users to forward the application to their friends.

ScoreMobile 2.0 was built in partnership with UIEvolution, an industry leading mobile application developer. And knowing how much hardcore sports fans love to have quick access to cold, hard beer, er, facts, Coors Light has signed on as title sponsor as part of an innovative cross platform media deal.

Originally launched in November 2005 on major wireless carriers, ScoreMobile 1.0 quickly became the most downloaded application of its kind in Canada, according to the company.

Using an interactive menu that enables users to instantly navigate to the scores they want most, ScoreMobile delivers live in-progress scores and odds for all major professional sports leagues, U.S. college football and basketball, and Canadian CIS football.

Also launched in 2007 was ScoreMobile Video – a mobile video clips service which is available to customers of every major wireless carrier in Canada. Offering wireless customers 2-3 minute clips of signature Score programming, ScoreMobile Video features exclusive mobile coverage of Barclays Premier League soccer and NCAA March Madness, including previews, in-game highlights, features, and fantasy analysis.
