MONTREAL – Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s itinerary today showed us this morning that while he was in Montreal, he paid a visit to outgoing Bell CEO George Cope.
The tweeted photo shows that incoming CEO and current COO Mirko Bibic was in on the meeting, too. Media weren’t invited, but the PM’s tweet noted they talked about getting broadband to more rural communities as well as lowering wireless prices.
Pierre Karl Péladeau, no friend of Cope and Bell, and a man who doesn’t exactly see eye-to-eye with Trudeau on politics, couldn’t resist chiming in Wednesday evening. On Twitter he reminded his followers he believes the Liberal government “squandered” Quebeckers’ money by giving Bell $15 million in grants to build wireless towers in Charlevoix so that G7 attendees last June would have good cell coverage.
There are no reports of the PM dropping in on Péladeau for a chat…
