The Movie Network, Movie Central premier new series on-line and on-demand

TORONTO – Astral’s The Movie Network (Eastern Canada) and Corus Entertainment’s Movie Central (Western Canada) are gearing up to premiere the web-based comedy series Web Therapy exclusively on their subscription video-on-demand and on-line platforms later this month.

The pay-TV services said Tuesday that the first two episodes the series will debut on November 22 on The Movie Network OnDemand, The Movie Network OnLine and Movie Central On Demand, and that subsequent new episodes will be available weekly on the same platforms as the series begin its linear broadcast run in early 2012.

Canadians will also have a chance to sample the first episode for free via the services' respective websites, and through the free VOD and on-line VOD services offered by participating television providers.

Combining new material with footage from the original on-line series, each episode of Web Therapy is improvised and focuses on Dr. Fiona Wallice (played by Emmy Award-winning actress Lisa Kudrow), a self-professed, narcissistic, therapist who treats patients via webcam in weekly, three-minute sessions – a modality she believes more effective than the traditional 50-minute talk-a-thons heralded by other mental health professionals.
