TORONTO – A group of Canadian investors led by W. Judson Martin, Martin Goldfarb, Robert Foster and Slaight Communications has infused The Fight Network’s parent company, TFN Global Inc., with financial support through a private placement, according to a media release. No figures were released.
Goldfard is a market research consultant and president of CEO of Goldfarb Intelligence Marketing; Martin was CFO of Alliance Atlantis from 1999 until 2005; and Slaight Communications is headed by Gary Slaight.
TFN Global also announced Wednesday it has finalized its acquisition of UK broadcaster, The Wrestling Channel Ltd. (TWC). TWC has been rebranded as The Fight Network UK, and is currently available in 9 million homes in the UK on BSkyB.
“The combined impact of these developments propels us into the major leagues of sports broadcasting,” said TFN Global president and CEO George Burger. “We’ve raised the funds required to plant our flag in the UK as well as to meet our working capital requirements, further entrenching us in the epicenter of the booming sports of MMA and boxing, and making The Fight Network a truly international brand.”
Capital Canada Ltd. assisted in arranging the private placement and has been retained by TFN Global as its exclusive banker.
“We are thrilled to welcome our new investors on board,” said TFN Global chair Loudon Owen. Owen and Ed Nordholm acquired control of TFN Global in September 2007 through Mayhem Media Corp.
