TORONTO – The Fan Radio Network is airing a daily feature called ‘Up Close and Personal,’ billed as the “untold stories of Canadian Olympic” athletes as they prepare for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic games.
The features are running numerous times each day on 35 Rogers and non-Rogers radio stations across the country, including 10 "official" Vancouver 2010 radio stations. The feature will continue airing daily until the start of the Games on February 12, 2010.
“Every Canadian Olympic athlete has a compelling and inspiring story to share about their personal journey and drive to compete at the Olympic level. These features will help Canadians build an emotional connection with our Olympic athletes as they aim for glory at Vancouver 2010,” said Nelson Millman, vice president, general manager and program director at The Fan Radio Network and executive producer of radio broadcast at Canada’s Olympic broadcast media consortium.
Over the next few months, The Fan will launch the weekly feature ‘Road to Vancouver’, a radio extension of the television feature focusing on athletes’ performances leading up to the Games. It will also follow the Olympic torch as it makes its ways across the country with the daily feature ‘Lighting Up Vancouver’.
The Fan Radio Network, owned and operated by Rogers Broadcasting, syndicates sports programming such as the Toronto Blue Jays, Prime Time Sports with Bob McCown and Don Cherry’s Grapeline, to hundreds of radio stations across the country.
