TORONTO — Groupe Média TFO announced Tuesday it is launching Le Camp TFO en Famille to support Francophone families across Ontario and Canada while schools are closed in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.
As part of the initiative, Groupe Média TFO will host a program of learning activities and fun, educational content on TFO’s platforms, including its TV channel, Idello.org and Boukili.ca. TFO is providing free access to Idello.org to help support families with young children at home for the next few weeks.
The Idello.org platform includes nearly 12,000 educational resources, offering intelligent, fun, reliable and safe content collections for all ages, says the news release. With its digital presence of more than two million subscribers and 25 social media accounts, TFO will help make those resources more accessible to a greater number of parents and teachers, no matter where they are, which is a priority concern during this period of social distancing, says the news release.
“In the spirit of mutual aid, we will immediately make access to Idello.org free during this critical time. The concept of Le Camp TFO en Famille is simple: support parents as naturally as possible by offering brand new programming every day. By integrating learning activities at home with as much simplicity as possible, we wish to foster joyous, bonding moments for all families,” said Julie Caron, chief digital learning officer at Groupe Média TFO, in the news release.
By creating a profile on Idello.org, parents will discover a new selection of educational content every day. The almost 12,000 educational resources can be searched by target age or school grade. Parents and teachers can access thematic folders to support them during learning activities with their children or to prepare their future classes. Handy ideas and customized news will also be shared on Idello.org’s social media and in daily newsletters.
TFO’s Boukili.ca platform offers a virtual library of nearly 100 original illustrated e-books designed to help teach children ages 4 and up to read in French. The free Boukili app is available for use on computers, tablets or smart speakers.
