HALIFAX – Canadian ICT company Tether will unveil a new business-to-business proposition this week at the BlackBerry conference WES 2010 in Orlando, Florida.
Launched in March 2009, Tether’s original application links a customer’s laptop to their BlackBerry, allowing high-speed Internet access on the laptop anywhere there is cellular coverage, via their BlackBerry smart phone data plan.
Now the company is targeting corporate customers with a B2B offering that will include features such as data security, customization and data controls. The company said that it is also discussing initiatives with several major wireless telecom carriers.
"We’re now reaching out to corporate clients to help them cut their costs and improve their employees’ productivity," said CEO Tim Burke, in a statement Tuesday. "We not only want their staff to enjoy the convenience of tethering, we want their finance departments to benefit from our efficient, low-cost technology."
Tether also said that it has increased its staff as it moves into the enterprise space, including naming Mike Flynn as director of business development. Flynn was formerly the director of business development for voice services at America Online Inc.
