Telus was Canada’s fastest mobile network in Q1-Q2 2022, says Ookla

SEATTLE – Telus was Canada’s fastest mobile network during the first two quarters of 2022, according to the Seattle-based broadband and mobile network testing company Ookla.

Ookla gave Telus a speed score of 91.3 – which is faster than Bell (87.78), Rogers (69.94), Fido (67.57) and Videotron (55.71).

The results are based on “703,540 user-initiated tests taken on the Speedtest iOS and Android mobile apps from all the major mobile carriers in Canada during the award period,” Ookla’s report explains. The results consider only carriers with at least 3% of the total test samples in the market for the award period.

Ookla’s final speed scores are based 80% on download speed and 20% on upload speed.

Telus’ median download speed for Q1-Q2 2022 was 86.83 Mbps and median upload speed was 8.92 Mbps, according to the testing company’s report. (Please see chart above.)
