Telus to offer advanced multimedia experience with Ericsson

TORONTO – Telus is partnering with Ericsson on the development and deployment of an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), the foundation for communication services over LTE and other accesses.

The implementation of Ericsson's IMS technology will enable Telus to offer advanced, convergent services in voice, data and video calling over both wireline and wireless networks to its customers across Canada.  The contract includes comprehensive systems integration services and technology based on Rich Communication Services (RCS) and Voice over LTE (VoLTE).

"We have a relentless focus on delivering to Canadians world-class entertainment and communication experiences”, said Eros Spadotto, Telus’ EVP of technology strategy and operations, in the news release.  “Harnessing the power of IMS technology is something we're very excited about as it will enable us to offer next-generation solutions that transform the way our customers live, work, and play".

"We are excited to collaborate with Telus in the deployment of the latest technologies in IMS, providing Canadian consumers with enhanced multimedia applications”, added Fredrik Alatalo, EVP and GM for Ericsson in Canada.  “IMS enables operators to offer a range of new and enhanced services to their customers at an affordable cost."
Ericsson has signed over 110 commercial IMS contracts worldwide, of which around 70 are in commercial operation.
